Nelson Bay Boarding Kennels was established in 1981, providing pet boarding services to the Nelson Bay area. Situated in picturesque One Mile in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, the Kennels provides individual runs for each dog, and large fully fenced paddocks surrounded by bushland where the dogs can run and play off leash.
Phillippa and Jon, the current owners continue to provide the high quality care that your dogs deserve when you aren’t able to care for them yourselves. They are assisted by an experienced team of dog-loving staff.

Phillippa
Owner
Phillippa has worked as a Vet Nurse in Sydney for several years, also doing stints volunteering for WIRES and at the Carnivore Unit at Taronga Zoo. She says that working with the dogs at Nelson Bay is not so different from working with the carnivores, except that there are more opportunities to play tug of war at the kennels than there ever were with the tigers. Phillippa is enjoying using her experience as a Vet Nurse to make the dogs’ stay as comfortable and as safe as possible.

Jon
Owner
Jon is a life-long dog-lover who has finally realised his dream of having more puppies than he knows what to do with. After a successful career in Finance he is now settling-in to the reassuring rhythms of life in Port Stephens. You’ll meet Jon in one of his many roles: a welcoming face in the Kennels office, a dad out on the school run, a handy man out the back or as the business brains behind the operation. Jon is known here as the ‘Little Dog Whisperer’ in recognition of his success in reassuring and settling even the most timid of little dogs.
Our Team
We have an experienced and dedicated team of dog-lovers here at Four Paws, who take the welfare and safety of your pet very seriously.

Our kennel hands enjoy getting to know each dog personally and working out the best way to make their stay as comfortable and fun as possible.
A fun, safe and comfortable place to leave your pet when you go on holiday, renovate your house, or travel for family or work engagements.
